What can Spool remove?

Spool can hide Instagram Reels, Stories, Explore, and DMs; YouTube Shorts; X Explore and optional Grok; Snapchat Spotlight, Stories, and Discover; and Facebook's dedicated Reels and video hubs. Each platform runs inside Focus Web, and its filters apply there—not to the native social app.

Instagram

Instagram Without Reels on iPhone (Keep DMs)

To use Instagram without Reels on iPhone, open Instagram in Spool’s Focus Web browser and turn on the Reels filter. Leave the DMs filter off to keep messaging available. Stories and Explore have separate controls. This filters Instagram’s website inside Spool; it does not change the native Instagram app, and shared Reel links may still open.

How Focus Web differs from an app blocker

A normal app blocker works at the app level: Instagram is available or it is not. Focus Web works at the surface level. You open the platform through Spool and remove the specific feed, tab, or communication path that triggers your habit. Spool can also add a voice check-in before a distracting native app opens, so filtering and self-awareness can work together.

Filters depend on enabled settings and the supported web interface. Shared Instagram Reel links may still open; direct YouTube Shorts links can open as regular videos. X’s For You timeline is not filtered. Snapchat Stories filtering includes Friend Stories, while chat remains available.

Does Spool modify the native social apps?

No. Focus Web is a browser inside Spool. It filters the web interfaces shown inside Spool and does not modify or claim affiliation with the native social-media apps.

How does Focus Web compare with other feed filters?

SocialLite, Dull, and UNDOOMED stop at the browser layer. Focus Web removes the distracting surface, while Spool's voice check-in tackles the reason you keep reaching for the full app. See the fact-checked Spool vs SocialLite, Spool vs Dull, and Spool vs UNDOOMED comparisons to see why filtering plus reflection is a more complete intervention.

Focus Web filters supported website features inside Spool. It does not remove Reels, Shorts, or other features from the separate native Instagram, YouTube, or other social apps. Native-app blocking is a separate feature requiring Screen Time permission and configuration.
